5 Things to Know Before Visiting World of Coke With Kids
I recently visited the World of Coke in Atlanta, GA, for the first time after living here for more than two years, and was excited to check it out for lots of reasons. The number one reason was all the people saying to go. When looking for things to do in Atlanta with young children it seems to pop up often, so I decided to give it a go with my sister and two girls, ages five and two years old.
After my first visit, a few things come to mind that I feel are important to share with other families traveling to the area who have younger children and are considering a stop at World of Coke.
5 Things to know BEFORE you go to World of Coke with Children.
1. No part of World of Coke is designed with kids in mind. Well, maybe the photo op with the Polar Bear, but that also depends on your child's threshold for large, scary stuffed bears. Every activity had a line and forced “wait” in a crowded space with hands on info and history that you could not enjoy because of the flow of people.
2. You will wait in line—a lot. There is a line to get in, and then you are required to wait in an entry for a presentation leading into a theater where you are forced to watch a 15-minute Coke commercial. The short film is very heartwarming. However, being automatically herded into a forced activity when visiting somewhere with a group that includes small children is not the best experience. That said the staff was very friendly and accommodating to the stroller and children.
3. You will not need more than a few hours. I would say even if you visit all the displays/exhibits and wait to take a photo with the Polar Bear you can still be in and out in three hours. This is a perk with small children.
4. Tasting room is fun but crowded. We were there on what I would consider a slower day but as the afternoon approached it got busy, as expected. The tasting room is crowded and hard to navigate and track small children in if they are not strapped into their stroller.
5. Unless you are a Coke fanatic, you should skip it altogether. I am glad we went because I love exploring and experiencing new things. However, if you have limited time with your family in Atlanta and are deciding between the World of Coke and anything else … I would go with anything else.
Overall, I love this part of town when the weather is nice. There are tons of things to do such as the Aquarium, Children’s Museum, College Football Hall of Fame, the public parks, or just enjoying some time outside taking in the views of Atlanta. There also is a new Tiny Doors ATL at Centennial Park that I have yet to see!
Moral of the story: if you think you want to see World of Coke consider the City Pass. That way you can pop in and out quickly in order to see all the other great Atlanta attractions.
